saw the install on MTV,s 'pimp my ride' -- crazy.......

I would like a bunch of them; for alot less than they want for them...... :D

:) What would they sound on a HiFi home install?

Of course they kick like crazy, but I suspect they do not put real ULF, like 20Hz.

Opinions please?

I can't take this stuff seriously....it's all such a cartoon...these characters remind me of "'ToonTown". I guess I'm still of the old school belief that speakers should be used to reproduce actual music...well...maybe the military could use it as some sort of subsonic cannon to blow down the mountains of
Afghanistan.

especially when the raw driver is retailing for over $3500.

A pair of those would exceed the load capacity of my "ride."

I'd have to rework the suspension, too. :p

[Wonders why installing the 2-Ohm interchangeable SPL cone would deteriorate the sonic quality....]

A replaceable cone assembly is also available, for switching between "every day" listening (SQL), and competition (SPL).

Oh goodie! I was hoping they wouldn't forget that key feature... I love being able to swap out my cone assemblies depending on whether I want to romp or stomp.

AL,

One or two of these behemoths will do an excellent job reproducing the output of the lower portion of a pipe organ's pedal division where 64’, 32’, 16’ and 8’ stops reside. Anyone hearing ('feeling') such low musical notes must admit that the experience is truly ‘seismic’. This driver is one of the very few capable of moving the prerequisite volume of air needed to reproduce the experience. For military and other high intensity applications, use of an airflow-modulating driver [1] is preferred.

WHG
