This sounds familiar. Have met similar problems in my work. Apart from computer hardware failure it has been caused by spyware.

Since you can reach this site we can almost for certain rule out hardware problem. I would try running additional scanners to what you already are running.

One of the really strong online virus-scanners is Trend Micro's Housecall. http://www.trendmicro.com

Go to "Housecall" from the "Find a product" pulldown menu.

One strong spy-ware scanner is Lavasoft. http://www.lavasoft.de

You can download a free personal edition.
Good luck.

:) Thanks a lot guys!, I had running TrendMicro, Lavasoft, Norton IS and antivirus; nothing worked, so while waiting for a techie, I read on the paper about a Microsoft security patch: www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms05-039.mspx (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms05-039.mspx)

I downloaded it, and another MS suggested, last night; reset the dang thing and still the same; this morning the problem was gone, I have no idea what happened, but I thank You for the suggestions.

...the whole damn thing is going to stop working, and we'll all just sit around scratching our heads. What do I do now?

Well... we can spend more time listening to our speakers rather than sitting around at a computer writing about them or looking for the "next" score... :D

Could be your ISP made some DNS changes...while troubleshooting network issues I start with ping...

Ping - Input: IP address or host name.
Sends signals (packets) to another computer on the Internet to see if they send a return or an 'echo.' If all the signals 'timeout' the computer may be disconnected from the Internet or at least unreachable from the Consumer.net server. This feature only checks a computer connected to the Internet, it cannot verify the validity of an e-mail address. It also cannot check a specific web page, but you can check the main server to see if it is connected is valid.
