I have a pair of JBL 2220H drivers that appear to be reconed, but not sure with what JBL kit. They were used as subs and have a foam surround rather than a pleated one. Any ideas what cone kits fit in the 2220 basket?

looks like a 2235H kit which (as far as I know) can be used in a 2220H basket.

Well dang!! I've got two of em' in custom sub boxes. Maybe I'll wire em up and see what they sound like.

I thought the 2220H had the same motor as a 2225H.

Nevermind.

2202 & 2220 are unique drivers designed for their own kits to be used for high efficiency midbass and midrange. While it's true that the voice coil will physically fit in the other 4" coil motors, the position of the coil in the gap will be be off from the correct static starting point, due to deeper gaps and shorter voice coils. Nowhere in the JBL "Goes Into" list are alternate kits listed for each of these unique frames.

For the record...the 2202 (12") can be omitted from the "unique" category and can share recone kits with other 4 inch coil frame/magnet assy's. Zilch correctly pointed this out to me, and I confirmed that in my old service literature. However...the 2220 reconed with anything other than a 2220 kit is a bastard child...I've seen this done alot, and it just aint right....

Of course...if it sounds good to you....well ....you know;)
