Needed new grilles for a pair of 4401's.

Ordered from JBL Pro. [Silly me....]

Dated 9/22/86 on boxes. [19 years on the shelf....]

Came here perfect today.

Anybody with anything bad to say about JBL can just stifle it for a week or so.... ;)

:hmm: Oh really... you know something I don't?Naw, I'm just feelin' mightily good about these grilles showing up here today! :D

They're lookin' real pretty, now. Just need a pair of 115H cone kits, and then I'll be able to mess with the crossovers. :bouncy:

[Guess this thread belongs over in "Technical" now. Ah, well....]

Let's see how fast Don yanks this post.

You can yank it yourself. It doesn't really say much of anything beyond speculating about possible motives of unamed people.

John,
I too had a mounting dilemna with my 4401's. Here is how I mounted mine. The brackets were made by MG Electronics, Inc.; model SWB-2. I did a search on their website and apparently they don't make this particular bracket anymore. I got mine on eBay; I don't know if this is what you need, but they have worked well for me, they are rated at 22 lbs, which works well for the 4401 which has a shipping weight of 35lbs per pair.

I DO have to figure a way to mount my L60T's horizontally and angled down from high locations on the walls - 'obviously something custom...

I've got boxes and boxes and boxes of speaker mounting brackets up in the attic- my shop cleaned out the shelves a couple of years ago, and true to my JunkMan nickname I scarfed up everything I could carry. I'll inventory some time soon & post any excess (excess? what a funny concept) here.

I had to go up to the attic for something else- quick check of the brackets (it's REALLY hot up there):

Omnimount, mostly 50 ST-MPs and 75 CA-PAs. Maybe a dozen of each.

Only one of the 115H's really needed reconing; the second one got by with refoam.

Interestingly, even though it has the same product code stamped on it (62660), the recone kit has no concentric ribs in it (see photos below). RTA says they're both playing the same, tho.

4401's are "Control Monitors," so I guess we're not surprised they're not dead flat. They have a saddle response curve as played, HF set to "0".

Crossovers include non-polarized electrolytic capacitors, but they've got bypass capacitors on them as well. Future project, probably.

Clearly these aren't party-blasting rock speakers, but I can tell you they're playin' Dave Grusin's "Migration" mighty sweetly right now. Like any good art, they'll find a place here....

NOS grilles - ya gotta like that. I need a pair for some L20t3's I recently lucked into. Guess I better check with JBL.(I assumed they were too old)

Would those brackets work for the L20t3's as well? I am looking for a good adjustable bracket to hang these for rear channel use. I would prefer something that allows full range motion. I will check the links posted here....
any ideas from your own experiences?

I have a pair of L60t's as well...If you find a way to suspend those and make it adjustable I sure would like to see the pictures.
