I have a pair of 2226s (+ mids and tweeters not relevant)
Auditioned them with 2245 subs and it sounded better.
Damn - now I have to buy 2245s and add them!
Initially my idea was just to have the 2226s in the JBL recommended 5 cubic foot ported boxes and add ported 2245 cabinets.

I now wonder - since the 2245s can easily handle up to a couple of hundred Hz whether I can now optimize the 2226s because I don't have to try to tune down to 40Hz. My first idea is maybe sealed boxes for the 2226s.
Anyone here have any recommendation?

TIA

Optimal size sealed box size is 1.234 cu.ft. This gives a -3db of 98hz, and the group delay is exceptional at under 3 ms. below 100hz, 1 ms. at 200hz, and almost nonexistant above that. 'Should work very well in combination with 2245's.

Plug it in to WinISD for both options. The optimum box sizes are small....

The optimum box sizes are small....
Hm. That could free up some space - and I could have several 2245s!

Can someone explain how the "35-1,8 khz" at +/- 3db is possible with the

http://www.jblproservice.com/pdf/Sound%20Power%204700%20Series/4745A.pdf

(2 x 2226h) ?

Group delay must be astronomic high.

I had/have 4745. They may be a little bit slower than my 4715 but they
still have enourmos punch. The sound is hmm, "juicier".

That 35 s/b a 45Hz. Take a look at a pair in 8 cubic ft. 40Hz box

I know, -3 db at 35 hz seems unreachable. But the difference between the
4715 (-10 db at 40 hz) and the 4745 is audible. Goes lower.

Placed in the corner of a concrete bunker perhaps?http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/images/smilies/applaud.gif

Also the spec is +/- 3dB.... that can be loosely taken to mean -6dB at 35Hz. For this PA stuff they may use a looser set of specification guidelines.

I have a 2245H that a friend was looking to sell, if anyone's looking for one I'll peek in the box and give details on it.
