Complex Manifold - 24 Drivers on 1 Horn

Currently on ebay is a University horn with 24 drivers in a serious manifold. What would this be used for, Civil Defense?

I remember years ago seeing pictures of something similar hanging off small planes for broadcasting propaganda over Vietnam. I did a google search but couldn't find anything...

this reminds me of a "kid" rock band i came accross years ago. they had the wickedest, most horrendous, ear slicing horns that just killed everyone. when i asked them were they got that contraption, they said they were from a battleship.....imagine the db level required to cut through 16" guns that weigh 200 tons per turret times 9 guns, not to mention the secondary battery!
