Hello i´m new on this forum and i´m from Sweden, so you may excuse me for my bad english.
I have been buying som speakers to my homecinema and i only missing 1 2446 driver to get completed.
I have so far:
4 2446 with 2382a horn
11 2226h i´m going to use 8 of them, 3 are broken
4 2245h in 400 liters ported cabinets, 2 are ported to 14hz and 2 are ported to 25 hz.
Now to the question, i whould like to build 3 horns to my front speakers and center with 2 2226h in each cabinet. Does my 2226h sound great in a Altec 815 box or does anyone have something who works better.
I want them to play 40-500hz.
For my rear speakers i want a single 2226h in same type of horn, i can´t remember the name on it altec 81?.
I got plans from Neriks to my 2446 horn (woodhorn) and i´m halfway on them. I got inspired of Neriks system and now i´m going to build my own cinema.

Hello again

The other cabinet was altec 816. I looked around on jbl vintage and found 2 other cabinets 4550bka and 4560bka. Do they work at home ? or must i have a huge room. My room is 8x10 meter. And from floor to roof is 2,80 meter.

Hello,

I think the 2226 is generally used as a direct radiator, not in a horn. The JBL 4648A is an example.

The cabinets for a dual 15 plus a horn are generally old. Here are some links to an Altec design that might be a better fit to your home than a VOT box. There is a comparable JBL design, perhaps C37?

I think your 2226s and 2380 horn would fit in this design. Let us know how your project turns out.

Tom

JBL 4560 measured by RTA at 4 meters in a room of ca 100 meter ^3. Loaded with Altec 416's.

Hello

Yes i know they are old but i like the design on them :) i hoped maybe someone had modified them to work better with new elements.
The "scoop " 4520 and 4530 really works under 100 hz but i dont like the design on them. I like frontloaded horns type 4550 and 816.
I have seen really big frontloaded horns on pictures type Altec 815 but i can´t find the pictures now on web.
