box size for 2242?

I have a pair of 140 L boxes I would like to load with 2242-drivers. To what frequency should I tune the boxes to get the best response?

That's a pretty small box for a 2242 - the best I could come up with is below - 39hz Fb resulting in 51.3 F3. Port size would be 52 sq.in. and 10.17" long:

Good News :
- Giskard has extensively covered the use of the 2242H as the modern, "all-purpose", update to the 2245H.
He bought a bunch of them and put them through their paces, including testing them in small boxes.

- Search for some of this relevant information by using the key words of : 2242, tuning, 2245, bass . Also include his name in the "Search by Users Name" area to narrow the search. ( don't use those commas in the search engine )

- I was just looking at this info this weekend / so I know its around here .

Bad News :

- You might as well hear it now . As John has pointed out, 140L is about 1/2 as large as the box really should be for decent bass reproduction ( from a 2242 ) .

My Advice : ( from reading the same links that I just posted )

- If your boxes are already made & if you now own 2242 woofers / then forge ahead. You will be able to squeeze decent sub-bass from an enclosure this size. You'll just need to accept the inevitable compromises. One is that you are forced to use a lowpass filter ( Bandwidth Limiting ) tuned to a very low frequency to get rid of all the extra bass & midbass energy. With this lowpass filter and a reasonably low box tuning ( I'd choose 32 hz ) , your net efficiency will be in the very low 90s ( close to many HiFi boxes including the 250Ti ). You'll also want a very large wattage amplier to drive thie setup. I'd say 400 to 600 watts into 8 ohms ( per chnl ) .

Ok, it was like I suspected!:(
I don't have the 2242:s yet, but I'm wanting them badly!

Maybe it's better to get new boxes when I finally get the drivers.
