Hello everybody-
This is my first post! I hope "general" is the appropriate spot for a question.
I just bought an old pair of JBL's in a church garage sale for 50 bucks!
As close as I can tell from the library, they must be a pair of '66 or '67 C37's?
There was a JBL folder on the back of one. Folder is empty, but the info outside reads:
Model# D38130 Serial# 56575.
Cabinet construction is very good, probably a factory job. Looks like stained walnut veneer. Still very good condition.
I opened the back of one- There is a D130 speaker and in an upper corner, a hole approx. 4 inches. Was this a porting hole, or should it have a tweeter?
Also, if this was a "base model" speaker, can I get crossovers and tweeters?
The D130 is 16 ohm, so with a tweeter addition, what would my total resistance be? I plan to keep these and upgrade with historically correct components if possible
Any thoughts on recommended amplification? With an old school 100 watt r.m.s. amp, they sound great at 1, probably annoy the neighbors at 2!
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I know somebody must have access to archives.
