Hi all I have stumbled across a pair of L65,s and they will need a little restoration. The surrounds on the woofers will have to be done as well as a little bit of oiling of the veneer on the cabinets. Also i have noticed the cardboard liner under the smoked glass tops that had a velvet like texture when new has turned stickey and gooey. Any ideas what to do to restore this underlay for the glass tops. Also any recomended sources for the new surrounds??? Might want to install some bypass caps as well.
Any advice or help in these areas would be very helpfull.
I figure these might just get the go ahead for placement on the main level, instead of the basement where all my other JBL cabinets reside.:)

Hey, John...

Try the "Search" tab for more ideas/discussion, but...

For surrounds, you should check with Rick Cobb: [email protected] and see if he can sort you out, with either parts/kits or service. Likewise, Orange County Speaker Link (http://www.speakerrepair.com/) has non-factory surround kits, and does the work. Not knowing much about Winnipeg, I can't offer any local names - but there's some smart Canuks here that surely do ;)

Bypass caps are described a-plenty here. Parts Express Link (http://www.partsexpress.com/) is a favorite resource for the 0.01uF AudioCaps.

So, now, fair trade: What you got lurking in that basement of yours, huh? :coolness:

Hey, OK, John - thanks!

But posting:
"DLP Video projecter and a 92inch 16/9 screen" on a public forum is a BIT much. I mean, come on! There's wives that might see that - and then we're all gonna have to get 'em! :D
