Can anybody tell me the difference between JBL Pro and Home audio?

Aren't the components the same?

Example: 2307 Horn vs HL91 Horn

or

2308 Lens vs L91 Lens

What was the reason for this? It's kind of stupid isn't it?:banghead:

Generally there is no difference other than paint color. There are a couple examples of cosmetic changes as in the 077 and 2405 and a few other models.

There are some differences in the magnet return castings as in the 2231A vs. the 136A. The specified overall weight is influenced by this but everyone treats them as though they are identical.

The reason? Does JBL need a reason? Marketing I guess.

Regarding Pro and Consumer JBL drivers prior to 1985, the main mechanical difference were the larger push terminals used on the Pro models. The powder coated paint finish was held to a higher standard on the Consumer models…Minor imperfections to the gray painted surface of a Pro driver would pass QA, but the same minor imperfection on a black Consumer driver would not. In some cases, there were differences in impedance rating, even though the drivers were the same.

Good point, Bill!
