I am hopefully going to finally snag a center channel 4425, but it has an Aluminum dust cover? and he calls the driver a D123. All input welcome... please don't bid against me.
Thanks,
don

We discussed it briefly when it was first listed. It's not a 2214 in there, rather, a D123. Hopefully, that's the only "mod" they made, and you'll just have to find a replacement woofer for it.

Right they may have changed the compresion driver as well. Ask lot's of questions.

Don't overpay for this speaker, as a single 2214H in good shape is going to run you at least another $100. While I'm not sure about the performance of a D-123, the 2214 has a much deeper cone and is capable of moving a whole lot of air. Like Robh says, ask lots of questions!

Yep, I agree... don't overpay. Your looking at $400 already with the entry bid, shipping, funky payment method, and the new woofer.

When I saw this listing I was tempted to ad a fifth 4425 to the collection, but then reality set in:

1) It's been obviously modified. D-123 is NOT a substitute 2214H in ANY way...
2) It's a single...why is there only ONE? I am always skeptical of singles that aren't subwoofers.
3) That shipping cost means they know its heavy, but aren't sure how...
4) Errors in the original listing....revised, added, subtrated, what model is it again? Headache?
5) It's in Utah, the hotbed of vintage pro JBL
6) I sent a couple questions, no response.

They are also selling "fresh" green "Incredible Hulk" chocolate syrup! :barf:

Warning, Danger.... looks like a seller who may not be very familiar with packing this thing (whatever it is) or JBL... and as you know, that can lead to unexpected costs and repairs.

More and more of these are popping up in LA these days. 2 pairs this month. I can start looking for you locally if you want....

I have a pair(mine are mint looking) and those look like some D123's that seen some mileage and in the sun to fade the cones and look old!

See if he is a pawn shop owner, they usually know just enough to list something on e-bay!

By the way, I like the D123's I have, they crossover at 2400 to a pair of 075's, not the last word in audio land, but very listenable at lower levels with the right music.
