Hi,
The M9500's were the fronts with the L250's doing the work for the rears.
All driven by McIntosh monoblocks.
L96's in my den driven by an ARC 100.2 amp.

yes the sub is an HTPS400.
Heres my power rack.
I enjoyed watching music DVD's at home more than going to concerts.
Well most of the time.
I did see Robert Cray a few weeks ago at a small venue and I stood right in front of him.
WOW.

WOW.
That's a special treat. Did that once. Robert is one of the hardest working musicians I've ever seen.

After some trials and tribulations, I finally got everything the way I want it. I doubt many of you consider it high fidelity, but it sounds damn good to me.

Couldn't be happier with my current setup. If anyone wants pictures, just ask.

1 2213H in a homemade box with some other components to "try" to match the L100 that I use as a center channel.
24 frames of E140-8 on the shop floor waiting to be reconed (I wish my customer would throw them to hell and buy 2226H instead so I could act as a dumpster :D)
12 2425J waiting for new diaphragms
2 2119H with new cones waiting for a project
1 2033H fron the defunct MP400 series, sounds quite good actually.

That's about it, my wet dream is to build two exact replicas of the 4520 but I still haven't find the original plans.

I am relative beginner here:

My first pair was JBL 4301Bs
My second pair was JBL L46s - a review here convinced me to pull the trigger while wtach eBAY.
My third and last is JBL 36 decades.

They are beautiful in different ways. Now I just want to find replacement grills and a tweeter for the L 46s the bring them up cosmetrically.

This is my first post after many years of researching/reading this site. Joined after I bought the xpl200s with stands in march of this year, several made comments, 350$ from e-bay (out of Bremmerton Wa). My jbl journey began with:
940T- still have
L7- still have
L40T3- stiil have
XPL200- of coarse- still have
Then I got a great deal on a pair of XPL140As with stands for 300$. Had them sipped via Fed Ex. Arived with boxes in poor shape. Slammed so hard that one of the woofer screws (all 4) come undone. All the ti cages come loose. End result some dings to the cabs which I can live with. Both 093 domes with dents. Have a pair of replacements diaphragms on the way. Have been a JBL fan since the first time I heard them (940Ts). Great site for the true JBL fan! Wish JBL/Harmon International paid attention to the loyalty to the customers who buy the products.

JBL 4311B's (2) pair and searching. The bottom pair I have owned since 1979 and the top pair purchased about a year ago. Crossovers rebuilt in top pair.

I’d use three of those 4311B as LCR and look for another pair and place them on the sides for side surrounds and another pair for centre back and so. That small centre will be missing a lot of tonally detail and the timber balance would be top class with three 4311B as LCR.;)

You might want to build a platform to support the JBL 4311B at the same height as the tone needs to track across smoothly from one to the other. If you placed one of them at uneven height it will make mess of the sound.

To check it out step buy step I’d disconnect each LF MF and listen to the tone of the pink noise on the LCR first. There shouldn’t be any dramatic drops or increases has the pink noise cycles over LCR. Check with an RTA if anything needs minor concretion its not a big deal.

Then check the MF by disconnecting the HF listen carefully as the tone moves from LCR.

Then disconnect the MF and connect the LF up and listen! Its really best to use decent RTA to show the peaks and dips. Is the room of even shape? If at all possible try and keep the speakers L/R away from the sidewalls as that will exaggerate the bass making it boomy.

My collection-
A pair of JBL L-100’s I have had for about 8 years.
A pair of Jbl 4311b’s I have had for about a month.
Each set driven by a MAC 1900.
Right now I have 4.5 MAC 1900’s, so I just need some more JBL’s to be able to have 7.1 surround sound.

I bought my L101s here in Knoxville, Tn in 1968. They are too big for my present setup so I am trying to sell them. The surrounds need replacing, of course, but there are no longer any competent shops near here. I had them on Craigslist for a couple of days but I believe I priced them too low at $900/pair as is.
The bottom of the walnut side panels also need refinishing. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I also bought an SA660 amp at the same time but sold it a few years ago still working fine. The caps had been replaced but otherwise all original. Joe

I feel so deprived after looking at all the posts.
I have 4312A's, my brother has Jubal's and dad has some sort of tower JBL's with a active/passive woofer. All bought new and in service for years with no need to have any more. The Jubal's and towers were refoamed a few years ago.

You got a great system there yourself gferrell. I always used to say yah can't go wrong with a good set of JBLs...

A couple of Vids before I did my upgrades:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH0c7yjNqkM
and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SIP1Wt2GUc

Will get something up sooner than later with my new upgrades.

These speakers of course harken me back to the day when I sold audio at a (Canadian) Military PX in Lahr, West Germany in the early eighties. We used to have to travel north to the US Bases Like Kaiserslautern (K-Town) to get a JBL fix back then. We only sold the likes of Quad ESL-63, Klipsch (right up to the corner horns), Cerwin Vega (for the young rocker-soldiers) and many many more mid and hi-fi offerings. But it was always the JBLs that kept me begging for more. Being a true west coaster and an old rocker I am loving the true west coast sound of these old L100A (New Gens) with their booming 12 inchers heh heh heh!

They do look awesome in grey as well - I may have just got a reprieve on the blue ones however. It will mean they get ousted from the living room but I just might get a man-cave out of the deal. After much whine with my cheese, CINCHOMEFLEET (aka wifey) is talking like she "may" let me turn our TV room into "my" media room - now I'm really excited and she can have her boring living room back - snicker snicker...
She is still not very excited about the blue (as her least favourite colour). I have temporaily reverted back to the black material inserts until such time as the switcheroo happens :-(
