So I have finally got to get my hands on 2 of the VRX932LA's and I must say they are amazing. 100 x 15 dispersion, and you can mount two on a stand and get great coverage in a smaller room. I cant really put into words how impressed I was by them but the 2407 is what caught my eye. Very impressive for such a small driver. I am going to find out what the price is for the drivers over then next few days hopefully. It is definately sparking some interesting thoughts

I'm certain much of the audio quality has to do with the special waveguides the HF drivers play through, and there are 3 in a "slot" type of array configuration. I'd be willing it'd be hard to duplicate the HF performance with any type of standard horn arrangement on that driver...

I'm VERY anxious to trial them. That same Differential Drive woofer is in the SRX line - I use their (stage) wedges now, to rave reviews from the artists. I mean RAVE reviews. No-one has ever heard so clearly and at lower gain.

What is the configuration you're running - EQ, xover, amps, etc.? Would love to know...

Is the 2407H compression driver available separately? I can only find it as a part of complete speaker systems.

The 2407 appears to be the successor to the 2426.

It seems to me the 2407H is substantially different than the 2426H, in that it's a ring-radiator driver. That'd be a huge departure from JBL's convential compression driver technology, (except for their current ring radiators, the 2402H, 2404H, and 2405H).

What does 'center-clamped' mean?Look at post #5 in this thread: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=4161 There you will see an opened up cener-clamped 077 ring-radiator. The 2402/075, 2403/076, and 2404 use the same method, but with different "center-clamps, also known as "phase plugs":

In the 077 picture shown, the clear part sits on top of and "clamps" down the center of the diaphragm - the radiating part of the diaphragm is the silver "ring" portion around the center "clamp" - this is why they're referred to as "ring-radiators". The blue portion is simply the outer mounting flange, ehich doesn't move. The silver inner ring portion is the only part that moves - it's "clamped" down in the center and the outside.

This thread shows what the phase plug looks like for the 2403/076 and 2404H: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=4629&highlight=076 This style is conical because of the horn design, but it functions exactly the same, to hold the center of the diaphragm down and also assure correct phasing/dispersion of the sound waves through the horns mounted to the front.

According to http://www.jblpro.com/ae/pdf/spec_shts/AM4215_95.pdf the 2407H/MTA is a 1.5" throat exit compression driver.

Is the MTA then a 1" to 1.5" throat adapter? Because elsewhere we learn that the 2407H has a 1" throat exit.

It would be nice to have the 2407H specification sheet ...
