Your earlier post makes more sense now! ;)

Hey, if you wanna see what those S8R puppies can really do, pop in Santana Supernatural, track 8, Migra. Feed em some watts, sit down, and fasten your seatbelt...you'll need it. BTW, no brylcream needed...full on blow dry.:rotfl:

I don't have any trouble making the switch when I go to Great Britain, except for those flippin' circuses (traffic circles for the Yanks). I'm always buggered coming out of them.

But then, I get messed up by the clockwise six-way circle in Long Beach, CA on Pacific Coast Highway. Sometimes I go around twice. :D

Why are only the 075's in mirror position and not the woofers?

Is that an LE15/2215 to the left and does one of them need refoaming?
What is that woofer to the right, is it JBL even?

And finally, why is the lens upside down? Is it because everything else is upside down, down under and the air flow is different? ;)

Other than that, they look VERY nice!

Why are only the 075's in mirror position and not the woofers?:p Because someone forgot to switch them?

anyone recognize the collar around the 075?

saeman

All early Sovereigns and Olympus with S8R had the 075 mounted to the baffle with the split ring collar. Not until about late 72' (I think) did the 4 hole square mounting flange get added to the 075/2402/2405. Sometime in mid-late 73' JBL stopped using the 4 clamps to mount the woofs in the Sovereign and Olympus, and went to 8 tee-nuts behind the baffle instead. The correct way to mount the split ring is on the face/outside of the baffle (which yours is) with the white o-ring on the 075 against the inside of the baffle. You will see some with the split ring incorrectly mounted on the inside of the baffle. From the factory the LE15A was mounted on the side of the cabinet that had the 075. Trivia! Rick

Oooops, could the answer be that simple?

BTW, how does that work, putting two different woofers in a shared cab?

Not two active woofers in this model - one active and one passive. Air tight cabinets only. Passive used to expand the low freq. listening area and is driven off the compression and rarfraction cycles of the active woofer.

Audiokarma

one is passive

OK, many thanks! That would explain, why there are no wires on the right woofer. :D

OY that would be the nicest truck in OZ, I'd reckon. I have a couple friends in Vic...one is a gov't research scientist who goes out of his way to try and kill himself at Surfer's Paradise regularly;)

Not yours but a dream haul, no doubt.:coolness: :beach:

I think maybe this thread should have been titled
"Ahead to the Past"!
What we're talking about is discovering how great these studio monitors from JBL's "Golden Age" really are. These were always "digital ready" and capable of great sound reproduction at high levels using quality, efficient drivers.

Just my .02
