My brother updated the 4435 from 2425H to 2426H.
The newer 2426H compression were slighty better for reproducing the high frequencies.

I doubt that this is because of 2425 or 2426. Sure it is the newer diaphragm.

I was thinking that too. But I beleive that they also improved the phase plug for the 2426.

Sorry but the Tad is not interchangeable without complete re design of the passive driver Eq in the 3135 network.

I have a friend up in the Sierra's who has successfully made the mod if anyone is interested. Apparently it was worth the effort.....

Ian, Can you send us the change to the crossover to achieve a good upgrade?

Thanks

JBL developed a new state of the art driver, the 2431H it is pretty cheap with around 300 USD.

In another Thread Zilch is showing that these drivers are extremely good. And soon we will implement them into the 4430/4435 design.

So why running after those TAD Drivers which might be excellent but for sure totally overpriced?

i have been thinking on my 4430's to try a couple different drivers. I am going to give an a shot and see what it can do, I am also thinking of trying a BMS, and the 2431. I completely bypassed the crossover in them as it is so i dont have to worry about anything

sa660,

Might be worth sending a pm to Zilch and ask his opinion.

In any case you can request the modification by sending a pm to cyclotronguy.

regards

Ian

i have been thinking on my 4430's to try a couple different drivers. I am going to give an a shot and see what it can do.2431H has a 1.5" exit, so you'll want to get a couple of 12" square PT-H1010HF waveguides (part #338785-002, $84 list) to use with them in lieu of 2344A butt-cheeks. It'd be good to try the 90° X 50° PT-H95HF as well, part #338781-001 (I think) to reduce first reflections off the ceiling and floor while maintaining horizontal beamwidth in the 1000 Hz crossover region, a "feature" of 4430/35.

Brain Wave.

If you would like to preserve the original 2344 bi radial and 2235 format you wish to investigate a dias upgrade to the dusted dias used in the 275nd driver as used in the 4344Mk11 and the 3100 series.

Apparently this dusted dias is aluminium and is significantly better than the Ti dias. Some members have made this change and are pleased with the results.
