Ok, I know a lot about amps and such. I need to get up to speed on filter theory. Especially crossovers and box tunings. Does anyone know of a good book or URL to read up on this stuff ??
TIA

Hi

Since you're in Canada , here are some national sources ;

#(1) Great Sound Stereo Speaker Manual by David B. Weems . 1999 edition
from Indigo Books (http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/default.asp?Ntt=Great+Sound+Stereo+Speaker+Manual% 7CDavid+B%2E+Weems&N=35&Ntk=BookName%7CAuthor&Section=books&Catalog=Books&Lang=en&zxac=1) for about $40.00 with free shipping .

or from Solen (http://www.solen.ca/) for a few bucks more excluding shipping .

#(2) Electronic Filter Design Handbook (LC, Active, and Digital Filters) by Arthur B. Williams & Fred J. Taylor . 1988, second edition

from Indigo Books (http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/item.asp?Item=978007070434&Catalog=Books&Lang=en&Section=books&zxac=1) for @ $100.00 with free shipping .

- This is a university text book for electrical engineering and so, will likely get 5 to 10% as much usage as the D. Weems book, which is a very hands on application of many practical approaches . Of the two , it is my clear favourite.

The ISBN #s are at the end of the links that I've posted .

Rapid Practical Designs of Active Filters (Its a 1975 oldie)

David E Johnson and John L Hilburn

ISBN # 0 471 44304-2

The math is there if you so choose to use it but the tables are concise,clear to understand and fast to use.One of my favs!

The de facto tuning software around this forum is Harris Techs' Bass Box Pro (http://www.ht-audio.com/default.htm) . This is a Windows only product .

Harris Tech also sells a crossover program called Xover Pro (http://www.ht-audio.com/xoverpro.htm) . You'll need someone else to review this product for you.

I like the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook by Vance Dickenson. A very definative book that covers crossovers in great detail.

Have a look at this site, a lot of stuff on active and passive filters and very good "How to" especially filter design.
