View Full Version : Recone Burn in?

Just a simple thought (I rarely have the other kind of thoughts). I have been listening to some new speakers now for about 30 hours. The 2205s were reconed as 2225 and it does appear that I am pretty much the first user of the recone. While initial testing showed response pretty much as I expected, it seems as if the woofs have opened up (for lack of a better term). I have had to adjust the pads on the networks to compensate for what my ear is hearing.

So, in lieu of a tone test, do any of you here have a 'burn in' experience with a recone, or am I simply in the getting use to the sound?

Either way I like what is happening whether it is real or all in my mind...

It is real. Most of it occurs in the first few hours....

License plate says: "JBL LVRZ"

That's what you wanted, no? :D

Henry, I made similar experience. Burn in is essential.

Thanks all - makes me feel less inclined to visit the Therapist.

It may well have happened in the first few hours, it just takes my ear a bit to catch up. I had a similar situattion with an SVS sub - after a bit I noticed it was abit overbearing and when I took out the SPL meter and measured I had to tone it down by about 10db from the initial set up.
