Hello

I am on the process to build my 250 Ti clones
Now I have a problem on how to place the 4 speakers as they do not seem to be centered on the front panel .

it looks like there is an axis with a 95° angle from the base that I could follow but I am not sure .

May be someone can help ? .

regards

Gerard

Hi Gerard,

I remember a sketch of the cabinet somewhere here. Please try to find yourself.

But on the front side, yopu can esalyfind the sepakers are not centered ?

For what reason and is there a special alignment that's what I want to know !

I believe this is pure optical.

W, M, MH are sitting exactly middled at the according cab width. Only HF is little bit out of center which is better to avoid interferenceres at cabinet edges.

I built lots of speakers with just scaling of sketches and was ever succesful. I believe that mm does not count. Others may think different though :p

Hi

It is not optical I believe !!! I look at photo's and try to trace a straight line with 90° angle from the base : does not work !

I will maange Anyway

Thank you for your answers

If someone else doesn't chime in I'll dig out my drawings and post them at some point. I looked when you first posted but they seem to be buried somewhere in a stack.

Thank you Giskard ,

I know you are one of 250ti's Guru !

So do you think the speaker are in alignment or not ? , it seems the drawings I have are ok ?

They are definitely slanted inward. Here are some pictures. I hung a white string in front of the speakers for reference.

hi mike :applaud:

would you say 5° or 95° from the base as I said ?

5 degrees off of an imaginary vertical line or 95 degrees off of the bottom sounds about right, but if I was you I would try to get a set of drawings for them.

The 250Ti cabinet looks more complex in person than it does in the brochures. In fact there are very few perependicular surfaces from which you can base a measurement. If I get a chance I will try to make some measurements this weekend. First I will have to determine a logical way to do it.

Looks like the vertical side isn't vertical, either, but that might be just parallax in the pics....

I threw a level on mine, the vertical side is vertical

A "Logical Way" may be to establish a single point of reference (the center line of the top driver) and plot the location of the other drivers from this point of reference. An imaginary center line (top driver) from top to bottom (of the cabinet). The other drivers will be X down from the center of the top driver and R or L, X amount, from the center line, of the top driver.

Someone can check this - it's from a 20 year old drawing.

Where has all the time gone...

Well, as I recall, if you draw a horizontal line through the center of each of the top three drivers, the midpoint of each line will coincide with the center of each of the three drivers. Another way to say it is that the top three drivers are centered on the baffle, determined by the width of the baffle at the horizontal hall-way line of the driver.

I think the placement is different for the woofer, however.

:) Hi Gerard,
You are absolutely right!
Just put a slightly higher set of cones under 1 side if you want 90 degree vertical- but, is it important?

hello 250ionly.

I am not sure I understood what you mean ... My english is not as good as yours , let's talk french next time .

In fact with the giskard drawing , I measure a 94° angle and you can get a straight line goint right thru the center of each speaker !!!.
There should be a reason why but I do not know it ?

If it is important for me ? : Yes otherwyse I should not be on this forum talking about things most people do not care at all ....
