Help in removing threaded 2425 snout from horn

Tried a search here, thought I saw it once. I am attempting to use the 2425HS's from my CS3115's for my 4430 ressurection project; I need to unscrew the driver from the horn. It appears there is some kinda varnish looking stuff around the threads, presumably to keep the driver tight on the horn. Considerable muscle moves it not. Experience with this, or suggestions?

Gee, I thought I was just weak. I had the same experience on the 2427's that I got from the tent sale. Although I don't intend to remove the adapters because I want to use these with a 2" horn, I was just curious. I gave up after trying my best to twist these off with just muscle power. Hope you get an answer.

Tell what I did I used lighter fluid to loosen things up and I bolted the horn on a piece of plywood. Got a pair of heavy gloves and twisted the sucker off. What a PITA that was. Might be better using the stuff they use to get tar off of cars or gum off floors. Heat may also soften it up.

I put the throat in a lathe chuck, locked the spindle, and twisted the 2427 loose with an oil filter wrench. :biting:

I posted this once or twice but can't find it either.

Use a hairdryer and gently heat up the horn around the snout. Will remove smooth for sure.
Did this with plenty of 2416Hs
