OK gang, for the new guy, can anyone answer what the difference is between an 044 tweeter and an 044-1 tweeter (other than the 044-1 diaphram is goldish in color and the surround is black instead of polished aluminium)?
Thanks in advance:)

If memory serves, the -1 is rear-mounted and the regular 044 mounts from the front...

OK, I have both in front of me now...they look the same (both mount from the back) except the 044-1 is tinted goldish and painted black. Anyone know if they spec out different?

Can't confirm where I read this, so take as a suggestion. Aside from the cosmetic difference, the 44-1 did not have the very fine metal deposit coating as with the 044 and 066.

Anyone know if they spec out different? They are electrically and acoustically the same.
Just to recap-
044 has silver frame with silver diaphragm and tapped bolt holes (bolts pass through baffle to mount).
044-1 has black frame with gold diaphragm and drilled out bolt holes (wood screws mount unit from inside the enclosure).

On my 250ti, tweeters have silver diaphram ans are marked 044-1 on the back.
By the way, any idea about the way to open them to check the foam inside ?

Michel. Then someone put 044 diaphragms in.
044 diaphragms are NLA.
044-1 diaphragms are still available.
Take off the screen and undo the four bolts holding the magnetic assembly to the frame.

Thanks for your answer.
I don't understand how the sceen is fastened on the unit.
I don't want to spoil it.
Do I have to pull it ?
Michel.

I don't understand how the sceen is fastened on the unit.It is held in place with a rubber gasket. Sometimes JBL also put a bit of adhesive underneath the gasket to help hold it in. Carefully pull the gasket out of the groove and then pull off the screen.
