You'll have to define the dimensions of your bank.....

Sounds like you are aiming for something with a 15" and compression drivers.

Possably! Bank account? Maybe around $1000.00 for a pair But it better be worth it! Marfia boy here :p

2312 horns with 2308 lenses, or maybe 2370A´s, I do not like the latter after a while, but some do.

That's a tuffy... I realize a grand sounds like a lot, but it will disappear real fast. You should let us know what you like the best about each system so that it is more obvious where to make the biggest compromises.

A couple of related issues.
Will you be doing the woodwork yourself?
Does it need to have hardwood veneers?

You can spend $250 pretty quickly just on the wood and materials if you are after an authentic JBL look.
It typically is less expensive to buy some speakers in need of TLC and bring them back to life.

Buy a pair of Altec A-7s. They don't sound that different from an L100 and they are damned loud.

If it is loud you are after you might also consider a pair of Klipsch La Scalas. They are even a bit louder. You are guaranteed to get the police by the house with a 100 watt amp. Some people even like the way they sound.http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/images/smilies/biggrin.gifhttp://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

:D OK then, I want L-100 quality and High wattage per ch. And I want it for nothing! Just kidding. Seriously, I am looking for something more than the L-100 but is that possable? Is there better? Be honest guys.

Sure a pair of L220s or a L250 are both "better" and in different ways, but neither of them will play substantially louder than your L100s. Beyond that you are probably out of your price range... an L300 will sound significantly better than an L100 at higher SPLs, but it really won't get more than maybe 10dB louder... and it is way beyond your budget.

and it is way beyond your budget

Maybe, but what do you know about my budget? Seriously, I want something Poitent and from JBL. And it better sound as good or better than the L-100! Personally, I think the L-100 can't be beat! Care to challenge me? :D

All I know about your budget is the number you kicked out...

So buy more L100s and a few more watts.

It's great when the solution is so simple! I wish my problems were so easily solved.:blah:

Well Bob......good luck.

You were given suggestions and all you could do was make demands for more info.

What do you want us to do....buy em for ya ?

Don't be so demanding and chill a little or the help will dry up.

Ok Guys, I take your suggestions seriously. Honest. I got a lot of respect for this web sight. But, if you insist on buying them for me, Well, who am I to argue? :wasnt-me:

Veneers may be expensive, but not too. I've found a place that has the veneers in a relatively inexpensive price range
http://www.certainlywood.com/woodmenu.htm

I like the bloodwood myself, but the wife wants maple to match the woodwork:barf: . Small price to pay to keep her off my back when it comes to transducers. For the maple, it's like $15.00 per to reskin the L96s. In Bloodwood it is more like $25. Mahogeny (JBL OEM) it's about the same.

What about the L-100? Is this Mahogeny veneer with walnut stain? I always though it was walnut veneer with an oil finish.

Yer right. My bad.
The walnut comes in 2 flavors, quartered and figured, both @ $1.50 a square foot.

Not to be rude, really, but, never having had a pair of L100s, I'd have to say you'd need to follow the link, scroll down and open the sample screens and see for yourself. The grain patterns there are representative of what you'll get.

Not to be rude

Your not rude at all.

I've never done veneer. Being that you have had expierence maybe you could give some directions for us newbee's. Maybe you could start a thread that explains how to do it with some pictures? Or maybe such a thread already exist.I havn't done a serch yet.

Not a bad idea. Not that I am an expert by any means, but when I do the L40 cum L96/4313s I'll take pics.
