I have 2427J's from the tent sale that I plan to use with 2206H's for surround in my HT. My question is - can I satisfactorily use a crossover of 800 Hz (3110A)? Since the data presented in the JBL spec sheet says that crossover is OK at 800 Hz, I assume it will be fine. I plan to use the 2311 horn and either L94 or the slant plate lens (don't remember the slant lens model).

I see that the 2427 falls off rapidly above 5000 Hz when used with a 2380 CD horn. I may have to use the HF boost switch if this is also true of the horn/lens combo I propose.

I will use 2 cu. ft. enclosures for the single 2206 in each surround. I can experiment with this since I am almost finished constructing my above RPTV center boxes (two separate boxes on each side of the 2440/horn-lens) and can use these to gather data.

$38 (list) JBL OASR horns will screw directly on to your 2427's. Be sure to order the gaskets for them, as well. The hole is not circular. They're 85° conical distribution pattern. Kinda marginal at 800 Hz, but worth a try. 2206's may be strong enough there to make up for it. If not, move up to 1.2 kHz....

Zilch,

Thanks for the info. The rear channels look interesting in the quoted thread.

What gaskets do you refer to? Are these to seal the driver/horn juncture? Maybe to seal between the horn and cabinet. Do you have part numbers for the OASR horns and gaskets?

It's to seal between the horn and cabinet; use it as template to cut the opening.

OASR = 126-00013-00

Gasket = 359-00110-03

Check JBL's price on that network, too. It may be cheap....
