Welcome to the American midwest. :)
America was the first to be eviscerated. Now I guess it's your turn.
The world in general is going to get real interesting in the next few years. Stay tuned... ;)
BERLIN General Motors subsidiary Adam Opel says 45-hundred German employees accepted the company's severance offer and will leave the unprofitable car maker this year.
The layoffs are part of the world's biggest automaker's overall plan to restructure its European operations that will mean a total of nine-thousand lost jobs at Opel.
About 27-hundred jobs will be cut at the main plant in Ruesselsheim, 15-hundred at a factory in Bochum and 300 from a Kaiserslautern facility.
In addition to those accepting the severance package, one-thousand Opel employees have agreed to an early retirement plan.
Opel is still in talks about outsourcing two-thousand jobs -- and a further 15-hundred jobs need to be cut at the company's Bochum plant.

One nice side benefit of the globalization of these large corporations, we will have a lot of company to share in the misery of their missteps. As Giskard said, this is only the tip of the Titanic's iceberg. Hold on tight, it is going to be a bumpy ride. :barf:
