:) An M552, 2 way stereo would be easier than the 3 way M553, unless You are running xtra tweeters and plan to tri-amp.

I use my m553ex as a two way at the moment. My system is going to change in that way :

1bass JBL E145 (Amcron DC300 a2 amplifier)

2Low médium JBL 2450 + VITAVOX 15 cell horn (Amcron DC300 a2 amplifier)

3 High meduim and tweeter : JBL 2450 +2397 Horn and JBL 2403 (UREI 6230 amplifier)

M553 or C236a ? What do you recommand for an active 3 way?

Regards Stephane

I have been using the M553 for years in my system (E145/2123/2420+2344A). But I have modified it by removing all coupling caps. This improved the sound enormously. And you should not trust the potmeters, nowadays I calibrate the M553 using my oscilloscope so left and right channels are adjusted equally.

I am in the process now of building a shunt power supply for the M553 to further improve its sound. It is still the worst component in my setup, but I cannot do without it, and with carefull use, you can get a great sound from it.

The JBL C236 power supply seems to be more elaborate/
