I am looking at a pair of s7r's with a 27A driver and a H93 horn + the LE15A woofer and radiator. Does that driver sound right?

Change that 27A designation to 275 - and then it's the correct driver .

Thanks for the quick reply, need to make fast decision! It sure looks like 27A with a flashlight. Have to take horn off to get the thing out of the cab???
Is the LX-5 crossover right, and what is a JBL 14C anyway.

Well,

You're actually talking to the wrong guy.

I'm not particularly enthralled with any of the mentioned components .

Plus, that cabinet size is beyond my patience to endure.

So, no I can't help you make a quick decision to buy / really (FWIW ) quite the opposite .

OTOH, if you like what you hear - that's all that counts ,,,,

Yes LX-5 is correct also.

The 14C is the LE14A with a LE20 buried in the center of it making it a fullrange coax.

Earl, it's vintage so different rules apply. People just like this stuff. It isn't entirely about the sound.

The driver does say 27A, serial no. 10049 so is this a Frankindriver

What else does the driver say on it? Could it be an OEM? You earlier said HL93 which is the 2" horn, but you posted S7R which uses the LE85 1" driver and no supertweeter. I assume you meant HL91?

They are 2 way with no tweeter which I thought meant s7r, with LE15A woofer and 15 inch passive radiator. I also thought there should be an le85 driver and H91 horn like my smaller c50's. But this driver is a 27A with an H93 horn????? What in the world.

Does this mystery 27A driver look like a 375? Could it be a different brand of 2" driver? If it doesn't look like this it most likely isn't a JBL.

Olympus was available as just cabinet as well as complete systems, and users or dealers could populate them as desired, sometimes with just what was lying around. If the cabinets are nice, and you like them, fine.

I have no clue what a 27A is, and LE14C doesn't belong in that system at all. LX5 is correct for S7(R) system.

Got that driver out and it is an LE175 on the rear end a 27A on that and a H93 on that for a two piece horn? What have I got. Am going to make a donation to this forum for all the information and help and keeping me out of trouble!

Ah-HA, 27A is a throat adapter, then.

They could be upgraded with the proper LE85 and horn, and then supplemented with 075 tweeters and N7000 crossovers to make a decent sounding system.

What's in them now is worth something. $500 max for the pair if the cabinets are in decent shape would be a good deal....

[IF you've got room for them.]
