Hi all,

I have the opportunity to by a pair of L300 that seem to be in good shape and I hope you could help me.

The woofers have been reconed. Do you thing it has been well done ?

Are the cable connections plugs original or have they been modified ? I didn't know that L300's could be bi-amped. I know that all the caps have been replaced by Mundorf caps.

There is a sticker with "Special edition by QS" on the presence/brillance pot plate; what does it mean ?

Is it possible to find recone kits for the 136A and diaphragms for the LE85 & 077 ?

And the last but not least question : all speakers are alnico. Can they all be re-magnetized ?

Thank you for your help.

They've been modified for bi-amping. You should go through them thoroughly to ensure the modifications have been done correctly.

C8R2231 kits for the 136/2231 transducers have been gone for ages. I can't think of a single reason to attempt to find any either. Use the C8R2235 kits. The LE85 takes the D16R2420 diaphragm and the 077 takes the D16R2405 diaphragm.

Yes, the alnico magnets can be recharged.

:) The reconing looks good, how do they sound?, if good, I wouldn´t spend the money to remag them.

The "Special Edition" sticker is, I guess, who did the mods, but I´ve never heard of them.

The 2308 lenses look good too, so if they are decently priced, get them.

Hi Alex,

I don't know how they sound, but they seem to be nice. I had a contatct with the owner who seems to be a music lover rather than a technician. So I am in confidence :) .

Thank you for your advice.
