If we take cost out for a moment, Is there a custom shop, guru, expert, craftsman etc. who could recone the Electro Voice 30w woofer.

I should be more specific. I was thinking there might be second run or someone could fabricate a surround. I believe they were made from styrofome? I had one fellow say he could probably rebuild the voice coils etc, but he would have to put in an order of 200 for the second run of surrounds at a very high price. Don't know if there would be that much demand?

Have you checked with EV? They were in production up until the late 80's. However, I realize that this is long enough ago that they may no longer stock repair parts.

Yes, I checked. They no longer make or have any spare parts. They even outsourced the surround making. That is the company that would want a 200 unit run. I have a chance at a pair of Patrician 800's 5 miles from my house foe great price:) but I don't like things that can't be repaired when the enveitable happens:(
