I am just about finished with my latest resto project L110. I have to install LE5-9's in place of the badly damaged LE5-10's. I wonder if anyone has thoughts about the pro's and cons of such a swap. I carefully painted the LE5-9's flanges black and then shot satin lacquer over them to give a tough hard shell (NOT the cones, just the flanges;) ) Here are some photos

See my posts on the LE5 series (Yes, that Techbot has yet to post the matrix in the tech section :banghead: ).

The 2105H/LE5H/LE5-9/LE5-11 is not the intended replacement for the LE5-10/LE5-12.

Try it anyway and adjust the L-Pad accordingly.

Oh yeah, thanks to Gordon's post I notice you have the older inverted paper dust caps on those particular LE5-9's. Carefully cut them out and replace them with the black aluminum dust caps. You should be able to order them from Pro Parts.

The LE5-9 has a bit of a different response, and is slightly more efficient than the LE5-10. The dustcap on the LE5-9 tends to give it a bit more upper midrange response "rise", and the edge-wound voice coil makes it a bit more efficient than the LE5-10, which has a round-wire coil...

Probably will work "OK", but probably won't have as "smooth" of a midrange presentation as the stock L110...

these are the LE5-9's I had left over from my L220's after swapping them out for the 2420/2312's . The info is MUCH appreciated. I'll hear what the difference is when I get them back together
