Look at the 4348, too, and the five versions of the 4312!!

Hard to believe there isn't a market here, in the US, for some of these! Anybody in H-K got a bead on the US market?

Then again, it's just as well they are ignoring us - how many MORE cabinets can I squeeze into my house! ;)

Car bass driver????

The bass driver owes its legacy to the LE125 from the K2-S5500 and has no relation to the car drivers in either design or construction.

The 4428 is actually 2/3 of a S5800 using the same mid/high drivers and horn and same bass driver - albeit just one.

DON

does theK2 s 5800 have the same bass Imaginary Equivalent Tuning as the s 5500 or is it one box for both drivers

I'm pretty sure it does. This is Greg Timber's preferred tuning since it allows for bass extension with only a minor sacrifice to dynamics. Greg was pretty much left alone to set the design parameters for that speaker, while the S9800 and 4348 had more influence from the target Japanese market. I believe the 5800 is available domestically since there was a price announcement for the US some time ago at $20,000/pr. The 4428 and 4348 are not planned for domestic sale.

Hello Don,
the 4428 : superb successor of 4425!
Difference between 175Nd and 275 Nd ?
The 275Nd it's neodynium version of 2426. And 175Nd ???

Ultratweeter 015M : ??? Tweeter dome or compression driver ??

"why are they only availible in japan?"

Because Japan isn't a nation of Walmart shoppers?

:rotfl:

You have to remember that the transducers used in these systems are state of the art and very expensive. The Japanese understand that fact and support the required R&D by buying the products.

The people in the U.S. that have the cash to buy these products don't go pick 4428's or 4348's off the shelf at a local dealer. They call their favorite contractor and have their current housing construction pre-wired for a custom JBL sound system. They don't drop $20,000 on a pair of K2-S9800's, they drop $20,000 on a custom installed JBL system. That's how it was explained to me.

It also looks like they also still have a sub with the SUB1500 in it: http://www.harman-japan.co.jp/products/jbl_cons/jbl_hpow.htm

Yes, I posted the specs of that particular sub awhile back. I notice they only used a single MA15 mounting kit for it. I was thinking I was going to have to use at least 1-1/2 kits per driver.
