Again I am considering building something out of the parts I have: Altec 806-8a and JBL077. I also have a JBL B460 sub, with BX63a crossover, with variable crossover between 63 and 125Hz
What I need is woofers to go between the sub and the Altec horns (109db/1w).
There are no woofers so effective... I can get 4 2204H for a resonable price. Do you think they will match the rest? Or do you have other suggestions for woofers?

The ME120HS I have been experimenting with might be in the ballpark: 92 dB at 300 Hz, 98 dB at 2 kHz 2.83V @ 1m. Don't know about your local availability. Just a thought.

Sorry, Did not mean 2204H, but 2206H

Hi Leif,

There are no woofers so effective...

- Can I assume that you meant to write "efficient" ?
- As in; "There are no woofers as efficient..." ( ... as the 109 db sensivity of the Altec 806a ),,, etc.

I can get 4 ( 2206H ) for a resonable price. Do you think they will match the rest?

- Sure, you can make something quite nice with those components. You may still need to pad down the horn a bit, from the 806s' real sensitivity of mid 100(s). What you have going for you in this combination is that the amp will "see" an @ 3.5 ohm load up to the 800hz crossover point ( and therefore dump more voltage into the woofers ) while the horn driver will hold steady at a real 8 ohm load. The difference in this "draw" ( assuming your amp is a decent voltage follower sort ) will help offset the different sensitivities of your chosen drivers. The 077 should end up with a similar sensitivity as the 806. Both will need Lpads in the crossover network .
