I have two of each and would like to use them as mid bass drivers from 130 HZ to 500 HZ where they will cross over to 375 s with the 537-509 horn lens assembly. Can I put one of each in a shared enclosure in both the left and right channels. If not, would it be better to replace one or the other with all the same drivers and which would be better. Thanks, Ken

I read somewhere long ago that the problem with using two different drivers over the same frequency range is that the system will decay twice as many ways. That's probably approximately true.

Those two woofers are not the same, or they wouldn't both exist. Nice woofers, but using them the way you suggest is far from optimal.

Even if you had matched pairs on each side the sensitivity (about a 15dB difference) compared to the treble is a dynamic mismatch, assuming you will be using the 375 or equivalent. And you will want a supertweeter. A fifteen like the 2220 would do better, or two less efficient fifteens. You might consider a pair of 2234's on each side with only one going up to the crossover frequency ala the 4435. They could be arranged vertically if that helps fit your space. With that setup you won't need a subwoofer for music.

The Hartsfield system needed a crossover frequency as low as possible because the woofer was in a front loaded folded horn, so the capability of that horn/lens combo was pushed on the low end. The way it was mounted in the cabinet helped load it. It's going to sound better at 800Hz.
