Hello
I just purchase a pair of JBL 15 inch, models E145. But they seems to have two differents cone and surround.
The first look very like the Everest 15inch and the second is exactly like a K145.
Is it possible ? Were the E145 sold with two differents cones ? Can someone help me ?
If I want to recone one to get a real pair, which one should I recone ?

regards, Stéphane

Around 1986 JBL started using a different cone with a different surround, I dont know why they did this, but both are real cones!

I would listen to both styles and see IF you can hear a difference between the two, and if you do, which you prefer!

Hello Stephan,

My old K145 has a one piece moulded paper surround. Serial number is 15577.
This was a little bit damaged and i fixed this with "Bitumen" for cars.
Works and looks like new.

Does this look like an original E145 cone made after 1986? Mine all look different, and the seller has one of each.

here is a pic of my E145's taken 1/17.

According to edgewound these were the last set on the shelf at JBL

OK, so that picture that I posted is an early version of the E145.
