L96 question

Hello,
I have a question to the experts on this site.
I have a pair of L96 in nearly new condition, which are a bit unique.
First they have a straight reflex port which is a bit shorter (of cause) and a bit smaller in diameter,
so the reflex tuning is about the same as the always seen elbow port.
Then they have the crossover with a big iron cored bass coil glued to back.
The front cover holes are in the wood of the box and not in the frame of the cover.
This is my 3th pair and I have never seen this, also searched the net, nothing.
It is been said, this pair was owned by Harman chief Germany until year 2000.

I've seen a couple variations in the L96/L112 line but not like this. The differences I've seen are in the grill frame material and crossover board materials.
I wonder if these are some Danish-built variation?

That makes perfect sense. Boxes by Jamo , drivers shipped from US.

Also the US versions smelled of Tacos , the Danish ones Polser :D

Okay, that really makes sense.
The coils look like Jantzen Audio, a Danish business for crossover parts.

I have seen many versions of the evolution of many JBL models.samples are the first version L 26 cardboard port tube, later made of plastic.the le25 series tweeter to the first version of the 375..
JBL was always developing and defining better products.

in 1975 I got a pair of L100's brand new I opened the sealed box to find pro model woofers not the consumer version.
Ive had 2 pairs of L166 the pair that was new in the box.
Years later the diaphragms failed and upon inspection the 066 had cotton ball under the dust cap.only 066 I ever saw cotton under the dust cap.
I could go on.you have another variation and will not affect performance.

I revisited the photos.
The crossover do not have color coded wire
I will see if I have any pics of the original crossovers.the port is very close (almost to close)to back wall.
Insulation is not close to the corner.
Can you take pictures of the back of drivers?

Hi,
the cables are colour coded, the pictures are not good enough.
I think that Jamo built them is possible.
In the later years TI 5000 and some others are also built in Danmark.
The chassis I think are all orig. from US.
