Hi maxserg,

The Info I have, also posted by neskor, is for the "A" version and is dated 1973. I also have the 1974 Tech Sheet for the 9848A. Nothing prior to these two docs. Let me know if that may still help you. Regards,

Richard

Hi Maxserg,

Although I have not personally owned 9848, I have had some experience with it. I had a good friend with a pair and I knew the Altec commercial contractor. I had many long listening sessions with them and was impressed by them. ( also the SIZE ) It was a phenomenal performer for the time. Even now I think. They would go down to 16 Hz, and the 288 driver was good to beyond 16K. You may remember that at the time of the 9848, Altec and JBL were locked in an epic battle for supremacy in the studio monitor market. JBL won largely because of the 4310, which Altec had nothing to compete with it.

If you have the space for the 9848, and can find them, buy them.

Keep on listening

Ed
