JBL L212 LPAD help

I have a pair of JBL L212 and the tweeter cuts out when adjusted. I have read that you can use deoxit on them how/where do you apply it? Can you apply it through the vent holes in the lpad (see pic)?
If they need replaced, I have seen parts express lpads mentioned as a replacement. For the L212 should it be the 15w or the 50w version?

I'd use the 50 watters myself ( assuming their overall diameter > side by side works with the existing holes ).

Deoxit sprayed through those vent holes rarely does the job properly.

One needs to take the brass back off to expose the coil windings and then scour the oxide off ( this includes sand-papering the wiper ).
- Even that method isn't fool-proof.

Please note that there are two wirewound coils that need cleaning/scouring .

It's easy enough to do using strong jewelers tools to bend back the clamp portions of that back-plate ( even without removing the Lpad from the plate ).

If this seems beyond your comfort level then simply try the spraying method first ( through the visible vents ).
- One can see that spraying through the ports is a really simple scatter-gun approach that may not address the proper area that's in need of oxide removal.
