Best driver to take over from JBL 2450 on E-JMLC 300 horn crossed at 8000 hz to Beyma Slot tweeter now.

Looking to drop the crossover point down to say 6000 hz any non JBL would be acceptable. Compression driver or Ribbon?

Hi David,

There are so many driver manufacturers in Europe that I can't imagine you not finding something appropriate... In addition to Beyma mentioned:

Fane International, B & C, RCF, Faital Pro, 18 Sound, Celestion, Tymphany, etc. Regards,

Richard

No, I tried it with a 2405 below 9KHz and I did not like, now I do with 18db Butterworth slope at 9,5. And the main thing is use an Aquaplas dia for the 2450 to use it higher 6000

Just my taste...

Directivity matching is a key aspect here.
What I would do if I were in your situation would be to measure the horn's H and V directivity in that range and seek for the appropriate matching tweeter.

I havn't heard them but I would go for E-JMLC-1400 and BMS 4526HE. You need to make a 16 mm to 19 mm adapter.

Take off the snout on the 2450 creating a sort-of 2451 with 1.5” exit. Use an adapter plate for the wider bolt circle under the snout an mount to a moder wave guide. The 1.5” exit works much better even on the 2450. Then you would be good to at least 16k with SL dia`s so you can ditch the uhfs.

Also much easier to get a 2-way to work than a 3-way.

Kind regards
