Hello again.
As much as I try, here in Spain, I do not find things that I like more than the old JBL. That's why, after trying "great" old things, has he resolved to place something in the second team ... 4530? .
It is a model similar to my 4430 and does not fit in its place ... Is there a model in 12" of this series?
What models usually accompany this slide 4530 in medium-high frequencies?
Thanks for the patience ...

Hi Alpina,

I remember reading many years ago in one of the pro audio magazines (Q & A section, where experts in the field replied) a reader question about the feasibility of making a smaller 12" version of the 4530 cabinet. If I recall correctly, the answer to that question was provided by well-known speaker designer and AES member Bill Woods then at the Loudspeaker Group in Toronto.

Unfortunately for you, the answer was not positive. If my memory serves me well the reason being the LF horn would need to be too small therefore not properly effective...

With regards to your other question about mid/high frequencies, the most usual model number combinations seen were:

2440 or 2441 compression driver/ 2390 (4530) or 2395 (4520) because of horn lens width /2405 tweeter.

I hope this info helps you. Regards,

Richard

Hi Alpina,

RE: "I was hopeful but I see that I have it difficult."

BTW I have a plan from Fane Acoustics for a 4530 type cabinet, a little smaller than the JBL, but still using a 15" woofer...

The ext. dimensions of the JBL 4530 cabinet are 47¾" H X 23¾" W X 23¾" D and those of the Fane are 41½" H X 23¾" W X 23.625" D. In terms of floor space taken both cabs are the same, however the JBL is taller by 6.25" than the Fane. If the issue is height, the Fane cab may be an option, but if its floor space then game over...

Regards,

Richard

Hi.
My problem is the width ... it has to measure the same as my Rogers LS5/8 ...46 cm.
