Hello every body,

I was looking for a pair of L-100 Century since a long time but can' t find any one in France... But now, at the same time, i have the opportunity to have a pair of JBL 4310 or a L-100 Century...(the speakers are on the straight line way... and the event is just a hole...)
Are the 4310 as good as the L-100 ??

Thank you everybody for your help !!

The 4310 should be basically the same thing, as the early model L100... with the LE20, panel-vent... the only effective difference is a different crossover. Here's a reference to an earlier thread, that shows the wiring differences:

http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1912&page=2&pp=15&highlight=4310

The 4310 and early L100 have different tweeters, ports and crossovers than the most commonly seen L100-variant, the L100A (which has the square-flange LE25 tweeter, ducted vent and N100A crossover).

IME and IMHO, the later model L100A with the ducted port, has better bass quality than the earlier models, due to the lower vent tuning. Otherwise, there's not a lot of effective difference, sound-wise, between those and the early model L100 and 4310.

Regards,
Gordon.

thank you GordonW, the 4310 i saw has the exact design in apparence as the 4311 (??) and the seller "think" that the speakers inside were the 123A-1/LE5-2 and LE20-1... is that possible ?

Don has a nice profile on the site read this:

http://www.audioheritage.org/html/profiles/jbl/l100.htm

As you can see the 4310 and 4311 both look the same/similar vents except for the tweeters and the raised baffle area.

Hello... me again...

I just notice that the L-100 have a deeper cabineterie compare to the 4310... 13 5/8 Vs 11 3/4"... but i am very confuse because the seller said that his "L-100" are 11 3/4" deep.
So, are the L-100 11 3/4"deep or 13 5/8" ??? can anybody tell me ??

Thank you very much,

Fred,

L-100s are 11 3/4" deep with no grilles attatched.

L-100s are 11 3/4" deep with no grilles attatched.

Yes, and the foam grilles of an L100 are about 1 3/4" thick, so that pretty much jibes there too... to within a 1/8", of 13 5/8", grille-on. Definitely sounds like what's going on.

Gordon.
