Hello,

about an hour ago I've received a pair of used 2344 biradial horns. The guy who sold them to me sent them disassembled. So the horns, the driver mounting flanges, and even all screws came separately (but within the same box).

I'm wondering if there's no need for a gasket between the horns and the flanges? The drawing at page 4 of this JBL document (http://www.jblpro.com/pub/obsolete/2344A.pdf) doesn't show any, but can I get the junction well tight just by screwing and without any gasket or sealant?

Best regards!

There doesn't appear to be any.

The studio monitors that used that horn only list a gasket for the flange of the horn itself where it mounts to the cabinet but nothing for the throat to horn junction. I have no personal experience with that horn so I cannot comment further.

Of the 4 pairs I had new from JBL out of the box none had any gaskets between the throat and the horn. They will be fine the way they were designed

Thank you!

May I add another question? I found out that the guy I bought my horns from sold me 2344's instead of 2344A's. What are the differences? Can the 2344's also be used in a 4430 clone?

Best regards!

I am no expert, but what I have gleaned from this site is, one version was two-piece metal (yours) and the other was a monolithic plastic version. Same horn (for argument's sake) just two different manufacturing processes.
