I have a set of N-500-E crossovers in original condition. Inside of course is the black tar with a block containing the caps I assume. Time to replace these? What's entailed?

I've never had to do it but others have heated the tar to help in the removal process.
Do a site search using ( Jackgiff ) as the name and ( N800F ) as the subject of inquiry .
Personally, I don't think I would bother > I would simply build up 2 new copies from this schematic ( using modern parts ) .

Thanks Earl.
I've seen a few threads of others with the tar goop all over the individual caps and that look like a complete mess to deal with. This being the single block, I was thinking I might be able to get it out of there easily enough. I have recapped a couple sets from my Santiagos with good results with just simple Daytons.
So are C1 and C2 all that is in that block?

Yes, according to the schematic, there are just 2 caps present in that network.
