I have some Altec 802D drivers mounted on 811-B horns. Is there anything wrong with removing the drivers to see what lurks inside? Or does that cause damage? Typical newbie to horns question before I screw something up.
Here are some photos: (Yes the horns are gold!)

Hello Drugolf you will not hurt them. It looks like you might have some dust bunnies down in the throat.
Also the protective screen looks like it might be damaged a little. You might find out that the compression driver does not want to come off to easy. Sometimes when painted the gasket on the front of the driver really sticks to the horn. If you have a rubber mallet a couple of lite taps on the back of the horn flange or a small wood block usually gets it done

I've also got a pair of 808-8A's with one of them registering open. I opened it up and here is what I have.
Most of what I have read suggests hitting up GPA for their diaphragms?
