Hello,
First post. 30 year Klipsch listener, migrating to older JBL!

I have a pair of 4343's that are completely original with only the foam surrounds redone. One tweeter went out which was the capacitor, which was changed on both crossovers. Upon removing the drivers from the cabinets, I did not PROPERLY tape or mark the POSITIVE and NEGATIVE wires going directly into the drivers; now I'm second guessing my ignorant and careless self.

Woofer = Solid Green and Green with small black stripe
10" Midrange = Solid White and White with small black stripe
Horn = Solid Yellow and Yellow with small black stripe
Tweeter = Solid Orange and Orange with small black stripe

I'm assuming all of the SOLID wires would be connected to the RED or Positive terminals...and wires with small black stripe would be to BLACK terminals.

I thought the biggest hurdle was diagnosing the dead tweeter, now I'm stuck.
Thank you to anyone who would consider pointing me in the right direction; what a fantastic forum.

Hi, I'm certainly not an expert, but the above should be correct.

Whatever phase/polarity deal that has to happen should take place on the crossover wiring itself.

Just IMHO :)

Based on the polarity of the drivers in my similar 4344's I would say you should be OK. In the 4344 the top 3 all are the same with the woofer opposite. Looking at the schematic you would get the same outcome.

Hooked both 4343 cabinets back together this evening. I followed the logic below from the multiple threads I read. Sounds good so far.

--"All solid colored wires (no black) connect to RED driver terminals".
--"All striped wires with white or black or solid black connect to BLACK driver terminals".

Is that an 076 cats eye tweeter in the upper right of the cabinet?

Yes Don,
I have the 076 hooked up versus the 2405 and I was doing comparisons before I sealed the cabinets back up. I was used to hearing the 2405's in my 4333B's which are lower to the ground; so naturally they sound less bright. I drove 19 hours straight to obtain the 4343's, the grilles must have been sealed for years; I got lucky. In fact, I'm heading to Matt's Vintage Audio (Cincinnati) to pick up a refurbished Pioneer SPEC 4 this Sunday, that is only a 8 hour trip! Too many bad experiences with shipping! Have a good one.
