81874Hello, my first post here :-)

Does anybody know if a 2225h cone will be centered if i put it in my E-140 baskets?
I know the magnet is bigger on E-140 (7/8 inch vs. 3/4) but if the voicecoil wont be centered in the magnet gap its no idea to recone with 2225h cones.. The JBL people here in Sweden says they cant get original E-140 cones anymore but original 2225h cones can still be found..

And i also have small small damages to one of my E-140s magnets. Its only very small pieces that have been scuffed of the edge of the magnet, will that in any way have some effect on the parameters?

Best regards, Robert

Ok, thanks for your reply! So the center of the voicecoil will be located right in the middle of the magnet gap? I knew it would work mecanically but just wondered about linearity..

I am pretty shure the voice coil will center. But read the old thread, it will give you some more ideas.

Why 2225? You have the recone kit?

Pretty shure does not help unfortunately and that old thread did not give an answer to my question. I wrote that E-140 cones are not available anymore but 2225h can be found. They need a recone and 2225h will be the closest to E-140 i could get for my old frames..

The basket and motor top plate of the E140 are the same as a 2225/2235. The voice coil will be properly centered. For sure.
