I have the chance to buy a pair of Control Pro III. Woofers are bad.
I can't find them anywhere in the JBL parts lists. :banghead:

MYSTIC Spaeker Huh ?

I would need the bass and tweeter parts number plus as much info as possible.
Thanks!

Any idea how those compare with the Control LA?

What is "SK3" in series with the woofer and inductor there? Thermal cutout?

It's a "soffite" lamp to protect the speaker.

Hi Guido,

I bought a mint pair of these that also included the matching subwoofer (only an 8" driver) for $99 on ebay a few years back. Overall, they are...ummm...less than spectacular. For $100 they aren't bad, but they really don't sound that great (imho). Unless you're getting these almost free, I'd pass. They seem to be extremely directional and getting them setup right so that you are in the "sweet spot" is a challenge.

Check ebay - you'll see that they are fairly common and quite inexpensive.

I'm going to revise my comments on the Pro III. For 3 years they were on bookshelves in my spare bedroom with the matching sub in the corner. They never sounded that great to me unless I was exactly in the "sweet spot". Well duh - they are a near field monitor, my bad.

I just moved them into my office replacing my computer speakers. Now that they are on each side of my desk about 4' from my head, I really like them. Very clean and punchy and a HUGE upgrade from computer speakers.

As long as you are using them near-field, they are very good.

Bought a pair a couple of years ago on ebay for $40.00 / pair. Hooked them up in my bedroom with a small receiver and dvd player and they sound good. I replaced a pair of bose 101 music monitors with them. The bose get louder, but the jbl speakers sound much cleaner. I paid $ 200.00+ for the bose years ago.

That was umm...14 years ago ? LOL....

I have LSR305's on my desk now and they blow the ProIII into the weeds.
