Can someone post the schematic of an N800-8K crossover for the 846B version of the Valencia? I’m replacing my 806A’s with new GPA 902’s and I want make sure I get the polarity correct.

I’ve been trying to sign up on Todd White’s site, but the image verification isn’t functioning.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Earl. I did find that one on line, but wasn’t sure if it was the same as the 8K version.

I have a strange take on this. I have same speakers also JBL and others. I have a pair of 902's and put them in place of 806. I don't think the dia in 902 are aluminum. Yes the highs were much better but I felt the mids suffered, and the overall sound was not for me. Put 806 back, had some 075's, for the top end, and pleased with the sound. I play this system at moderate levels, if I want really loud I have other things here for that.

Yes, the 806’s with their famous “banana response curve” have a wonderful full, warm sound to them. But even as I get older, I still miss the highs. Maybe it’s due to many years spent listening to my tweaked out 4345’s.

The new GPA’s, along with changing out the crossover capacitors - Solen for the LP and Hovland in the HP, certainly measure much flatter according to my RTA. They do sound way cleaner, crisper and extended as well.

Time spent listening will tell if the magic is still there along with a new improved measured performance level.

if you do a search here, you’ll find a mountain of info about modifying older Altec stuff spearheaded by the late and much missed LHS member, Zilch.
