I was just listening to my L96s wondering if they could morph into something resembling (a stretch) 4343Bs. All L96 drivers are repurposed with the LE10s in a 0.5 cu ft box for mid bass. What would driver would you consider for the bass? Looking at my collection of baskets, I could recone E-155s to 2240s (yeah, overkill).

Change 4343 to 4315. Incorrect similar to comparison.

Do you not have a pair of 2245’s?

Le14a's or Le14H's ( not Le14H-1's or 3's due to their lower efficiency ) are my choice when using le10's as a midbass.

The le10a ( or h ) has a lower impedance than the le14a with the net result being the same loudness when they are paired together.

Crossover? Could he do 600Hz to 2000Hz with an LE10? Or is there a better sweet spot?

I do have a pair. I think the cab volume would be enormous, the sensivity too high and they are subs. I was looking at LE14s thinking they might work or try to pull the 128s out of my L112s or the 128/PR300 combo out of my L150s. I read an old thread where 2214s replaced the 128s in a L150 and the bass improved.

Building a box is no problem. Getting the XO working is where I’d need help.

Yeah but you mentioned the E155-2240 and, well, you know, overkill being barely adequate and all,,, ;)

Barry.

Years ago, I set a pair of L96s on home-brew SUB1500 cabs and biamped the lot.
It was a quite pleasing setup and got the L96s off of the floor. IIRC, it was just a
LR 24dB/oct crossover set at or below (likely) 80Hz.

I would simply cross the L96 over at 100-150 hertz to the 2245s

That is exactly what l did with my rcf 3 way 12 inch monitors (poor mans 4411😧)20 years ago with a crown active crossover.

Once you do that then consider the next steps?

I put some 2397s on top and triamped the whole mess.

(The soft dome mids and tweeters in the rcfs were not dynamic enough)

I then added 2405s ........

Whoa! That’s grander than I imagined. I LIKE IT! So y’all are suggesting I place a 100Hz high pass filter prior to the L96 network? Ok.

is there a minimum baffle size/area needed for drivers? I was looking at a picture and got an idea to break up the drivers and house them in their own enclosures, .5 cu ft for the LE5s & LE10s. If I rearranged them I could wind up with this:

the 044 doesn’t need an enclosure but baffle size?

Why not leave your L96 entact for the moment.

Or make a 5 sided cavity in the woofer box to side the L96 into

The crossover for the L96 was designed and tweaked for those driver positions on the baffle so l would not change the driver locations without first testing what your new layout did to the presentation
