View Full Version : Looking for help from JBL240ti owners

I recently purchases a pair of JBL 240ti from a home where they were used in a theater room, installed inside of a wall cavity. The previous owner had removed the original cabinet lower base and feet. I was unable to find photos of an original 240ti bottom view. I would like to restore my pair to original, and would like to see an example from an owner willing to go through with the trouble for me. I not new to the forum, but have 0 posts here.

The specs show it's supposed to be 36.625" tall. Your "foot" is likely a square frame made of 2x2 (1 1/2" x 1 1/2") with nail-in furniture feet to bring them up to correct height. This is all speculation/extrapolation based on the service manual. You can measure the height of yours and subtract that from 36.625 to determine how to get to factory height.

Thank you for doing that for me Grumpy. Looks like standard metal furniture nails. Are the nails 5/8", 3/4", 1" ? I will purchase some furniture grade plywood and seal it with spray shellac, then spray with black lacquer. I will leave the underside of the new base unfinished, scrape the old glue off the speakers, then use titebond II wood glue to bond, and use the weight of the speaker to do the clamping for me, once the bond tightens up enough to turn them over.

Hard plastic surface on the nails. I assume they’re stock. 5/8” dia is a good guess.

Perfect. I can not thank you enough. How thoughtful of you to go to the trouble of turning over your speakers for me, taking a photo, measuring, and comparing materials. If you want to spend some time reading the history of this recent acquisition, you can read my thread over here. Not sure if it is proper to cross link forums?
