Just acquired a pair of 140a's. One woofer is bad and I'm trying to remove it but wondering if there is a trick to it. Pulled the 4 screws and it doesn't want to come loose. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Chris

Face down on thin carpet? Bump it a bit...

Mine had 4 ohm red woofers in them and those came right out. Finding the -3 woofers did take a while. I went with a pair of -2's while looking, they are still here If you want to go that route. In fact, I have 2 pairs. (Thought about making dual woofer stands out of them, but didn't get to it.)

Thank you, Mike. I'll have to try that. And thanks for the offer on the -2's. I'll have to give it some consideration. I see cone kits from simply speakers are available but prefer JBL. Is the -1, -2 -3 denoting an improvement?

Can you see any of the back of the woofer through the port at the rear? If so, maybe you can push something through there to shove the woofer out.

Get a set of machinist picks/scribes. Use the scribe with the 90° angle inserted through the screw hole and pull upwards as the speaker is lying on his back. Might try heating up the woofer frame so it helps release from the neoprene baffle cover. Some orange oil can also help release the stickiness from the neoprene. It will eventually evaporate. You can also use a piece of 2 x 4 and some large pliers to act as a fulcrum to help with more leverage force to pull up the woofer

Thank you, Edge, and Don. I did manage to get it out. Just needed someone stronger I guess.

Thank you all for the helpful tips.
