JBL M2 DIY Badge

If you don't want to pay Speaker Exchange $66 plus shipping for two JBL M2 Logo badges that go on the horn, then print this logo I designed on the left via a photo printer, spray mount onto to thin stock and trim. The well for the badge is 31.4mm square. The file is sized 31mm square at 300ppi.

You can take this idea a step further.

I printed my design on Silver Sign Vinyl so it already has an adhesive back.

Carefully cut around each sticker using a sharp craft knife leaving it on the backing paper.

Place on a perfectly flat surface.

Mix up your 2 part epoxy glaze (resin & activator) using a standard 1:1 ratio. Mix for 3 minutes and leave approx 5 minutes until bubbles have gone.

You probably don't have this stuff laying around so instead you can try using 2 part Epoxy Adhesive (or similar), harbor freight sells this stuff (https://www.harborfreight.com/02-oz-quick-setting-epoxy-adhesive-96031.html) - The only drawback is that this adhesive sets to the point that it becomes unworkable after a few minutes, but it is cheap and you only need a small amount for each badge so only mix enough for 1-2 badges at a time. (Beware - Do not buy the instant set Epoxy Adhesive by mistake)

Pour the epoxy slowly into the center of the badge and let it spread to the edges. If you pour carefully the epoxy should flow to the edge and then stop, if it flows over the edge as in my example below it usually means you've poured it too fast. The Epoxy Glaze is designed to have a really high surface tension so provided that you pour it slowly you can build a pretty good dome.

Use a tooth pick to pull the epoxy to the corners if necessary, the tooth pick is also useful for dragging any bubbles to the edge where they should disappear.

You should easily have 30 minutes working time with the glaze.

If your feeling really adventurous after the first pour wait about 3 hours then repeat the process to get an even higher build.

Leave overnight to fully set and you'll have a really professional looking badge that you can simply peel and stick.
